Stylish Mens Sunglasses by Vava Eyewear
Jose Pedro da Silva founded Vava Eyewear in 2003, borne from his love of Techno music, architecture and art. Vava sunglasses combine geometric shapes and industrial styling with high quality, sustainable materials to create stylish eyewear that is functional whilst having futuristic designs. The aim for Vava is to achieve a contemporaneous functional look, whilst being simultaneously conceptual and timeless.
Da Silva, whose previous fashions experience includes working for Hugo Boss, collaborates with renowned designers like as Beate Leinz, who has a wealth of experience in designing sunglasses for brands such as Yohji Yamamoto, Christian Lacroix and Prada to conceptualise and develop Vava’s iconic eyewear designs.
The brand represents high style, by utilising minimalistic yet striking designs and exceptional quality materials.
How Techno and Architecture inspires Vava designs
The inspiration for the brand comes from Da Silva’s passions for Art, architecture and Techno.
Artists such as the American Solomon Lewitt who was known for his Conceptual and minimalist work, Russian avant garde artist Kazimir Malevich who had a strong influence on abstract art in the early 20th century and Josef Albers one of the pioneers of 20th century modernism are prevalent within Vava’s design concepts.
The Bauhaus (which translates ‘building house’ but more commonly understood to be the ‘School of building’) is also integral to the inspiration behind Vava. The Bauhaus was a German art school which operated between 1919 and 1933. The style associated with the school is now considered one of the most influential in modern architecture and design. Vava eyewear endeavours to follow the same minimalist and architectural standards set by the Bauhaus movement.
Juan Atkins - Techno originator and the face of Vava
There is also a connection in the design to the architectural forms associated with the post industrial cities of Detroit and Berlin. Detroit managed to rebuild itself and prevail through Techno music after falling from economic prosperity. This is in essence why Juan Atkins, who is widely accepted to be the originator of Techno music, came to be the face of Vava sunglasses. It is no mistake that Vava is headquartered in Berlin, which shares similarities with Detroit as a post industrial city with a more recent affinity to Techno music.
Techno music like vava eyewear has been built for the future and the person who wears Vava eyewear represents those of us who are in control of our technological world. The brand communicates the equilibrium between man and machine.
In addition to the exceptional standard of design, the Vava brand is a sustainable company. The products are hand crafted and made from eco friendly acetate which is 100% recyclable.
