The Allotment is an official stockist of the highly sought-after Marcelo Burlon menswear range. The brand is most famous for its Marcelo Burlon T shirts which mainly feature a stylish monochrome palette of black, white and grey. The designer draws on elements from different cultures to inspire his clothing designs. His very own symbology is created with striking prints in animal designs, such as snakes and birds. The graphics used have been created and developed by graphic designer Giorgio Di Salvo and the motifs each have a kaleidoscopic quality, which are both bold and visually interesting. All prints are high quality and original in their execution. Each t-shirt’s old print is balanced out by a plain background in high quality fabric, providing stylish pieces that will last.
Marcelo Burlon has a wide and varied skill set. He has been an editor in chief and an events planner, DJ, Model, Creative and Art Director, photographer and Publicist, but rather than see himself as a designer for the iconic brand, his namesake, Marcelo Burlon - County of Milan he resonates more with the title of ‘Hippie’.
Marcelo Burlon was born in El Bolson, Rio Negro which is a small village in Patagonia, Argentina before moving to Porto Potenza, Italy with his family as a young teenager. He moved to Milan in 1988, aged 19 and gained employment working at the Magazzini Generali nightclub, the place to be seen in Milan in the late 80’s and 90’s.
In 2012 Marcelo launched His County of Milan T shirt line, taking inspiration from combining symbology such as crosses and birds from his youth in Patagonia with the diversity and night culture of the clubbing scene of Milan. Lea T, Marcelo’s friend and the face of Givenchy in 2010, modelled the Tshirts, helping the brand to quickly build notoriety.
Marcelo Burlon is authentic and this shines through allowing him to have established and built the County of Milan brand via social media, word of mouth and the halo effect of his ultra cool friendship circle. His ability to attract influencers is testament to his personality. Rather than being far removed from the madding crowd he immerses himself in reality, taking a grassroots view on the world which has allowed him to define what is cool and present us with a streetwear brand that resonates with youth culture.
The first celebrity to wear the brand was Drake, quickly followed by a range of household named stars. LeBron James, Pusha T, Lewis Hamilton, Rita Ora and Kendall Jenner are all now aficionados of the brand who have been spotted sporting County of Milan apparel.
It is evident that Marcelo Burlon is brimming with artistic thoughts and ideas which makes it difficult for him to be put into a narrow box. He is a creative genius who successfully follows his heart and his visions and has directed the creation of fashion masterpieces in the process.
