Grit & Grace is a brand new sustainable activewear brand, for ethical fashion forward women.
Grit and Grace was founded by Stephanie Hoole, who had a life changing health diagnosis, that forced her to change the way she exercised. Core, gym based strength training needed to be at the forefront of Stephanie’s exercise routine to help her improve her health. The change in her fitness regime, highlighted to her the limitations of the gym clothing that was available to buy.
Stephanie’s passion for sports, exercise and keeping fit, combined with her concerns for the detrimental impacts that fashion production has on the planet inspired her to want to create a fitness clothing brand that not only provided the necessary functionality that women need from their sportswear, but also rebelled against the norms of fast, throwaway fashion.
Plastic waste, pollution and fair treatment of workers are all important issues for Grit and Grace and for the modern, conscientious fashion consumer. The fashion industry is the second biggest polluter on the planet, with many unethical fast fashion brands playing a major role in terms of unnecessary pollution and the unfair treatment of workers.
Grit and Grace stand out in the activewear market, by placing their emphasis on sourcing the highest quality sustainable and recycled materials for their ladies sportswear lines. Sustainable materials are complemented by stunning, well thought out designs, that offer practicality and functionality for women who want to stay in shape, look good and keep fit.
Grit and Grace activewear is made in small batches and is great for people who are original in their style choices and want to make the right choices to improve their training potential and the environment.
Stephanie’s flair for creativity and original thinking are a major part of the design and production process. This has been illustrated in the Grit and Grace debut collection which utilised regenerated ocean plastics to create the materials used in the line.
Pollution in the Grit and Grace manufacturing process is kept to a minimum by keeping locality in mind when sourcing materials and production partners. The brand was started in Leeds and manufacturing takes place in London to reduce the impact of shipping from further afield. All partners that work with Grit and Grace are vetted so that the brand can be sure that they are working with companies that have high ethical standards.
The brand also aims to educate others on how fast fashion impacts the environment, and how we can all play our part in reducing our impact on the environment through the fashion choices we make.
The Allotment is excited to be working with Grit and Grace and we are looking forward to updating our followers and customers as soon as the latest collections are live and available to buy on our website.
